Dr. John Gibbins was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand, and pursued his medical training at Auckland University. He also holds degrees in biomedical science and honours from Victoria University of Wellington, as well as a PhD from the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research. His expertise lies in sports and exercise medicine.
Dr. Gibbins became interested in medicinal cannabis after patients with chronic pain began asking about it. Realising he knew little about its potential, he started
researching it as a way to explore better options for managing chronic pain—an area he has always found challenging. Outside of work, Dr. Gibbins is kept busy by his two young children. When he finds the time, he enjoys indoor cycling, particularly on Zwift.
