Dr. Smylie comes from Dunfermline, Scotland. She always wanted to be a doctor and studied medicine at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London University.
She started reading about medicinal cannabis once it was legalised in New Zealand after becoming increasingly concerned about the ethics and power of the big pharmaceutical companies. She decided her interest in holistic medicine would be better met by working in a cannabis clinic.
Dr. Smylie lives in an Intentional community, which is a group of people who have chosen to live together with a common purpose, working cooperatively to create a lifestyle that reflects their shared core values. The environment is very important to the group so some of Dr. Smylie’s spare time is helping rid their 300 acres of native bush of noxious weeds. She also enjoys looking after her own 21/2 acre garden, sailing a 35 ft yacht and spending time with her two grandchildren.
